Our Spring Book Fair was a BIG success!
We would like to extend a HUGE HEARTY THANK YOU to all of the Book Fair volunteers as well all of the children and parents who came out to support the school by buying books at the Buckalew Spring Book Fair Carnival. The Spring Book Fair was more successful than the previous five book fairs! Everyone worked really hard to make it a success, and it was! Mrs. Johnson is going to be ordering lots of new books and other assorted resources for the library thanks to everyone’s efforts, and it will benefit the entire school. Monies raised from the book fair will directly benefit our Accelerated Reader Program, be used for the purchase of new science books to correlate with the new science curriculum being instituted by the district, and will help replace old easy reader books as well as provide more copies of the popular ones.
The Buckalew PTO Book Fair Committee chairs would especially like to thank the following: Patty Sorensen, Cathy Pittenger, Rene Holder, Mary Pat Holt, Nidhi Tyagi, Christina Gezzi, Beth Theobald, Liza Bryant, Alison Paff, Sue Swingholm, Laura Valles, Dawn Gaub, Debbie Brack, Athena Sullivan, Debbie Kaschik, Lisa Heitz, Jennifer Harper Stevens, Sheri Dann, Ursula Blackburne, Brooke John, Kelli Vasquez, Arlene Failde, Pam Gales, Amy Bills, Lauren Bella, Dana McPhearson, Deidre Northcott, Cheryl Parsons, Pam Zoda, Emily Hopkins, Leisa Roberts, Heather Shahidi, Misty Behl, Siko Criswell, and Nancy Nelson.
These wonderful volunteers gave their time repeatedly and conscientiously, working double shifts, covering for each other, and helping the kids, all in an effort to help the library reach its goal. They did it not only willingly but with beautiful smiles on their faces. Our little Buckalew Bears are lucky indeed to have such wonderful, devoted parents!!!
Book Fair fun fact: The number one selling book at the Spring book fair selling 213 copies was Oh Baby!
Rounding out the Top Five books sold at the book fair were Nate the Great,
Ocean Fairies, Diary of a Wimpy Kid, and Star Wars.
